Message from our founder - Pamela Bell
As a child I found peace, adventure, connectedness and joy exploring the nature around me when I didn't know how to express my big feelings. I recall jumping rivers, playing in fields, cloud watching and collecting conkers. Nature has always been my safe space and my healer when times have been tough and throughout my childhood, this helped me greatly. Naturally this continued to be my go to as I hit obstacles on my journey and as an adult I have researched why it worked so well for me and the true power nature holds.
Nature has therefore been a big part of my therapeutic practice with most sessions taking place outdoors. I see the elements of nature, ever changing, ever growing…. much like us. Maybe that's why I relate to it so much too. Nature provides amazing metaphors when you don't have the words e.g a tree weathering the storm could represent intense emotions .... but also... surviving, steady as the storm passes. A hidden path could spark a feeling of uncertainty, fear or excitement of what's ahead... I invite you to explore those feelings safely in the presence of the natural world. My connection with nature has transformed over the years with experience and study, I am strongly drawn to the ways we can use nature to heal ourselves. To recognise...our own power.
A common struggle for many people is feeling isolated, disconnected, or emotionally fragmented from others. - Nature shows us that we are part of something larger. We are all connected, even when we don't see it or if we feel broken.
Every part of us is meaningful and worthy of love and compassion. My intention is to remind clients of this. You are not alone.
Why choose outdoor therapy?
In a world that constantly pulls our attention toward screens, schedules, and stress, many people are rediscovering something deeply restorative - nature. Whether it’s walking through a forest, sitting beside the ocean, breathing fresh air in a local park, fishing by the lake or simply in your garden, outdoor therapy offers a powerful way to reconnect with ourselves. Combined with the principles counselling schools, outdoor therapy can become an even more transformative experience. Nature provides a calming environment where our inner world can feel safer, clearer, and easier to explore without upsetting our nervous system.
It is a chance to slow down, reconnect within yourself, and to notice all the living beings who are here with us - all connected. It is a chance to feel the air, notice the wildflowers dancing in the wind, hear the bird songs, and release some of the tension in your body bringing back a state of groundedness.
We believe in creating a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. Our walk and talk therapy offers a different kind of space for reflection and healing. We're here to support and empower you, allowing you to lead the sessions wherever you need to go, it is up to you what is discussed.
How is it different to traditional therapy?
We believe some of the most meaningful healing happens beyond the walls of a traditional therapy room. Nature creates a calm, grounding environment where people often feel more relaxed, open, and connected to themselves. Being outside can reduce stress, improve mood, increase confidence, and support both mental and physical wellbeing through movement, fresh air, and natural surroundings.
Outdoor therapy also helps remove some of the intimidating barriers and potential power imbalances that can exist in clinical settings which can sometimes strengthen our guarded defensive parts and hinder our initial progress. Outdoor therapy allows the therapist and client to walk alongside one another more equally and authentically with freedom of space without feeling trapped. We value the way nature encourages reflection, resilience, and personal growth, while creating space for genuine human connection and healing.

Healing does not always happen under fluorescent lights or within four office walls. Sometimes it happens under open skies, beside rivers, or on quiet trails. In the presence of trees, fresh air, and mindful attention, we often discover that healing is not about becoming someone new — it is about reconnecting with the Self that has been there all along.
